Plant a Seed Water it and it Will Grow!

I moved in October of last year. Just before my move I planted.... well, a piece of a plant. My father had brought it back from the Islands many years ago and my darling cat Arthur Canfield had chewed off a branch of this rare rubber plant - I was deterimed it would live. So I placed it in a glass of water and after several weeks it grew a root and I planted it.

Since that time Arthur has dug it up twice and I rescued it and re-planted it. It is this one tiny litte branch with an almost leaf that is just sprouting. It has been quite dark this winter so I know the conditions are not perfect for it to thrive. I look at it everyday and think 'there must be another branch about to sprout, grow you!'. Day after day it seems to look the same but I know something is going on underneath the soil.

I looked at it a few days ago and thought of how we can put efforts into something everyday like I have with this plant and still see nothing for a long time. Some of our goals are like this, efforts over and over again, some of us stop right before the new growth breaks through the earth, allowing the roots to dry up just before it sees the light. We don't know when that new leaf will sprout so sometimes we stop believing.

I have been working on a few projects that have yet to break through to see the light and I have had moments when I am tempted to throw in the towel. Like that plant I am believing any day now, a little hint of green will poke through the earth and this plant will thrive, as will my projects.

This is a reminded to not get discouraged, though it may look like plain soil on the surface we never know how much activity is going on below and when several new branches can appear.

Hang in there, continue watering and providing sunshine AND your seedling will eventually sprout!
